How to build split pane outline or table view?

  • Subject: How to build split pane outline or table view?

I have an outline view that has identifiers it the first column, then a lot of other stuff in additional columns. The user will want to see the first column always. He may want to horizontally scroll out and see other columns that don't fit on the screen though. So a vertically split table thing seems like just the thing.

How to build such a thing? I've considered using two outline views configured identically side by side in vertically split panes. But how to sync the vertical scroll bars?

Thanks for any ideas.
