How has everyone else built their drawer-based apps? With code?
By heavily modifying NSDrawer, its underlying private classes, and

Since 2001, I've filed numerous bugs, written demo app's which

Write to email@hidden and ask them for the engineer's comments from
the bug. Typically they will explain their rationale for these sorts
of issues, but it doesn't always make it back to the engineer who
filed the bug unless you specifically ask for it. (And if they didn't
provide a rationale, ask for the bug to be reopened and provide
clarification as to why you think the behavior is wrong.) Radar is
kind of broken in that regard--they clearly want Apple engineers to
be able to mark up bugs without potentially exposing "Apple secrets"
to an outside developer, but it means that all too often we are left
in the dark about a bug's actual resolution.
