actually, except for the ugly, I can't find anything that goes wrong;
Exposé seems to work and none of the windows are in the window menu
yet because I am using a subclass of NSPanel.
I am nevertheless inclined to have a go at the Carbon way, you
wouldn't have some pointers to a good starting point.
