It doesn't work like that in practice. Learn as much as you can about /everything/. Eventually, if you only program in one language your learning will eventually reach a plateau - so learn so different languages to freshen yourself up; find out about how idioms that are common in one language could be used in another.


Personally I'd be reluctant to hire a developer with more than a couple of years experience who didn't have a reasonably varied CV featuring more than one language.
