That sounds like a political and/or ideological decision, not a
technical one. As such, it's not really related.

The question is this - if you *were* given a sufficient reason to write
an app that had to use Swing and run on the JVM, what would you do?
Would you complain about the fact that you can't use Swing and compile
to the JVM with Objective-C? Or, would you shrug your shoulders and
learn Java?
