Many thanks for your reply, TeachText, your advice is
very helpful. You are of course right - what I want to
do is refactor my code, not rewrite it. Mainly I am
just creating a new project, importing a lot of my
classes, and then copy and pasting and refactoring the
controller methods that are currently messy but do
work very well.
Thanks for the helpfultiger.com link, too - I've found
loads of useful stuff on there, especially the link to
the Cocoa Literature List, which led me to Michael
Stone's article on good programming practice and
refactoring at his Cocoa Files site - I'm not sure if
that is the article you meant, but it was useful.
(Quick question from that to anybody who may be
reading: is it good practice to precede instance
variables with an underscore or not? I've read
conflicting advice on this...)
