The X11 system is an optional part of the OS install... fortunately, I think you can install it separately. Check your system discs.

I'm trying to port an app written for X11 and part of the build system that came with it wants /usr/X11R6/bin/xmkmf

There doesn't seem to be a /usr/X11R6/bin on my machine - even after digging out my xcode disk and installing the X11SDK package.

Is this typical or am I special? I suppose there must be a version available via fink but I'm trying to understand why its not in the standard X11SDK install.
