I have never and will never code for and or support windows. There's
plenty of unix work around if you look a bit. Windows should be left
to die, its already collapsing under its own weight.
You know, there is a school of thought that says JavaScript isn't the
most wholesome language in the world, yet here you are recommending it.
You can always find Java web work. It sucks but its usually on
unix. In fact, practically anything web based is unix
In what sense? As in, if it works on the latest Mozilla nightly, it
doesn't need to be tested on Internet Explorer? And did Adam not
explicitly mention Java as something to broaden into anyway?
If I were looking to
expand my skill set, I'd be studying javascript, css, and dhtml as the
newer richer web apps are becoming all the rage and there aren't enough
people who can do rich web clients around.
I'd agree that this is a good employable skillset. But overall, Adam's
advice is much sounder. Hope for the best; prepare for the worst.
