That example locks focus on 'self' which is an NSView. There's a typo
in the mail which says it is a category on NSImage, but it isn't. His
example shows how you draw into a view and then take a snapshot of it.

does exactly the same thing. The code above isn't a prelude to drawing
the image, it's just a couple of lines of test code I added right
after I'm done creating the image, to check the image's validity using
the debugger.
