direction for control-drag - connection application

I want to write something in Cocoa and would appreciate your advice.

I want to be able to create a gui that does something like what
interface builder does with its control-drag action; I want to
represent an image (say a rectangle or icon) that corresponds to some
object with some properties, one of which is an output. I want to
visually connect the output of one object to the input of another.

Any ideas or tutorials you can think of that might help me along to
get this up and running?

Thanks,

barton
