Well, presumably one may want to render guide lines or other marks that are always very fine or thin no matter the output resolution.
Especially with the advent of resolution independence.

I wasn't saying you may not need such information I was only trying to understand why you in particular wanted to know this information. I have seen folks asking for something when in fact it is unrelated or better solved another way.


Humm... I cannot find the document I am looking for so I cannot give you the answer I recall seeing once to this question. Try asking or searching on the Quartz developer list [1] if you don't get an answer.

Anyway note the following APIs (new in 10.4)...
