Hello all.
Been away from the cocoa development scene for a while, as it seems
the bulk of my work the last year or so has been Java and Database
stuff. I'm excited by the resurrection and makeover of EOF/Cocoa
into "Core Data" (which is what pulled me back here, and have been
reading up on it and plan to dive into it shortly.
I've searched the list archives and the web and didn't see this
answered (but I imagine it must have been asked!) - but does anyone
know what the long term plan for Core Data is? It looks to me like
dropping RDBMS support was intentional, since Apple admits that EOF/
WO and Core Data share the same heritage.
Don't get me wrong - just as is, Core Data is manna from heaven. But,
with support for databases, or even an open architecture that would
allow us to create our own persistence adaptors (without diving into
headers and reverse engineering stuff), it would be even more so, and
that would open up a lot of opportunities in corporate/scientific
computing.
If anyone has any shareable knowledge about where this is going, and
if we can expect to see Core Data going to a database or, heck, even
opinions, I'd love to know it.
Thanks!
Jeff
