As you now realize, the bug is in your program. The compiler is not designed to do array-bounds checking, hence it is not a bug in the compiler.
You might want to read this page in Apple's docs for suggestions on tools to help you in debugging this sort of problem in your program:

But in this particular case, it shouldn't be hard to see where your bug is since the array has only 4 elements so stepping through the relevant code in the debugger would be very fast.
