Your wish is granted.  In Tiger you have the QTKit which is a Cocoa API for working with QuickTime movies.  You can also use the VisualContext routines to avoid the use of GWorlds to satisfy your objections with QuickDraw.

Thanks, Scott, Douglas, and Clark for pointing me in a promising direction. Another incentive to get Tiger.

Not to dissuade you from sending money Apple's way, keep in mind that QTKit is available on Panther when QuickTime 7 is installed.
