In past versions of Mac OS X, I downloaded an X11User.pkg to get up-

So, where is X11 support installed ?
I want X11 so that I can run gimp to produce images for use in
Cocoa applications I am developing.
Um... I'm not clear on just what you're looking for.
X11 support is installed in the usual place, under /usr/X11R6.
X11.app is in /Applications/Utilities/.
If you're installing Tiger, you can do an "advanced" install and
enable the X11 sub-package, which is optional.
If you want to install X11 later, it's on the distribution DVD in /
System/Installation/Packages/X11User.pkg.
