Exclude files from backup

H,
I backup my boot disk and I would like whether I have to copy or not this
files and folders:

/private/var/backups/local.nidump
/private/var/db/netinfo/local.nidb/
/private/var/db/dhcpclient/leases/en1
/private/var/spool/cups/
/File Transfer Folder/

For example, I have been told that I can avoid to copy the folder
    /private/var/
Is it true?
