A quick date question: If I have an NSCalendarDate set to a given timezone (say, US/Central), how do I return its value in the current time zone (say, US/Eastern)?

Use setTimeZone: to change to change it. You can either store the previous timezone to restore afterwards, or operate on a copy of your original NSCalendarDate.
