Speech Recognizer Always On?

Hi all, I am writing an app that will control a headless Mac Mini using
voice recognition. I am having a problem where if the app's main window
is deactivated for any reason the voice recognizer stops listening for
the commands I've registered. Right now this is just happening if I
click another window but once the head is removed I'd imagine it could
happen from any kind of popup or message.
I'd like for my application to be always active and listening on the
voice recognizer. I have set setBlocksOtherRecognizers:YES on the
recognizer but I can see that if I click off my window the command list
still goes away.
What's the best way to do what I am trying to accomplish? Eventually my
app will be completely windowless, at least during normal operation, so
is there even a way to do what I want?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Sincerely,
Jason von Nieda
