mmalcolm crawford, listen. I am not new to programming, but am
very new to ObjC and Cocoa. All I asked was if anyone knew of an
example on how to use NSTableView with NSArrayController. I did not
asked to be put down and treated like an idiot by referring me to
Google.
To put mmalc's reply in context for you: he has already produced
probably the most comprehensive set of bindings examples in existence
(AFAIK) and made them available to the public. He is more prolific
than most people on this list, especially in providing detailed help
to those who ask specific questions about bindings. And he is also
one of the moderators of this very busy list.
Of corse, I have made more than a reasonable effort in finding
the answer to my question. I have bought a book and have spent
countless hours searching Google. I just still don't get the concept.
I guess thats the wall I am trying to climb over.
But that's not what you asked for. You asked if anyone knew of any
tutorials or examples. Try rephrasing your question, perhaps
highlighting specific areas of the conceptual documentation (http://
developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/CocoaBindings/
index.html) that you don't understand. Or if you're looking for
tutorials and examples but don't understand the ones you've found,
why not link to them and tell us (and their authors) what needs
further explanation?
I may have come across some good examples (to you and more
experienced Cocoa authors), but I wouldn't know, I don't know how to
use NSTableView.
Help their authors make them better examples by explaining why they
don't help you understand how to use NSTableView.
I was posting here with the hope that someone knew of a (example
only) "beginners guide to NSTableView" or something :) I wanst
posting hoping someone would write code for me, or give me a detailed
example in a post. I just wanted to be pointed to the right direction.
http://www.google.com/search?q=nstableview+tutorial
http://www.google.com/search?q=nstableview+bindings+tutorial
Both of these searches bring up comprehensive tutorials within the
first 5 results. When you rephrase your question, refer to these
tutorials.
I do, in fact, understand that some people post without
researching and hoping that someone would do the work for them. But,
I am not here for that. I am here to learn a new skill and actually
put it to use, by me and not someone else.
The various tutorials and examples are designed to answer questions
as broad in scope as yours. Lists like this are for more specific
questions. Otherwise, how is mmalc supposed to differentiate between
someone like you and someone who wants their work done for them?
Best wishes,
Hamish
