How to Draw View back ground like iCal Task background color

Hi, I am using a view to draw my contents. i am filling the view with a color, but now i want to fill color such a way it reflects the iCal Task(i.e from left to right we move the color darkens).Is there any way to draw in Cocoa. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks in Advance.
