The thing is that I have started to learn Mac OS X development
since - say one year -, by working and reworking and rereworking
the exercices of Aaron Hillegass 's Cocoa Programming book with
variations of mine,
I don't think it's a good idea to learn a language/framework set by
coding the same task in different ways. Cocoa has, even more than
other frameworks, a preferred way to do things. If you follow this
path, it's usually a snap to get things working. If you try to do it
a different way, you're plainly asking for trouble, nothing else.
Instead you could do really more useful stuff with your time. Work on
new tasks/apps and/or port apps to GNUstep. The latter is a clone of
Cocoa's precedessor, OpenStep, and filling the gaps there will give
you some experience at lower levels. Additionally, you'd learn how to
port Cocoa apps to other Unixes and Windows which should be a
valueable asset.
My $0.02,
Markus
