Authorization panel

Is there a way in Cocoa to bring up an Authorization panel, like the one that appears if a user tries something (say copy a file they don't have writes to), so a user CAN modify a file if they know the administrator username and password. I've looked around, and either there doesn't seem to be an easy solution, or I'm just not asking the write question yet.

Chad
