Ok, I'm stupid. I found what I needed.. using an NSScanner to get the
hex value from the string.

The reason I couldn't find it before was that I had my search field in
the Xcode documentation set to API reference instead of Full Text.
This is why I hate modal controls. I wish it had two buttons, instead
of one button with two modes.

Ah well, back to my groping and stumbling towards a useable app.
