NSFormatter, bindings & control:didFailToFormatString: FOLLOW-UP

  • Subject: NSFormatter, bindings & control:didFailToFormatString: FOLLOW-UP

In 10.3, a NSNumberFormatter, associated with a value binding on a
NSTextField, results in a spurious "Alert" alert with a "Discard Changes"
button. I've found an earlier (2003) query about the problem in the archives
("who is putting up this dialog?") at:

http://www.cocoabuilder.com/archive/message/cocoa/2003/12/20/73532

but can't find anyone who has resolved it other than to not use formatters and
bindings together. Anyone got, seen or heard of a better solution before I
embark on an old-style action/update/notification/etc. code-a-thon?

Thanks.
