I think you will have to fade the screen yourself, but I am using ScreenSaverView subclasses quite happily outside of the screen saver. My purpose however usually is testing screen savers.

Hi,
I want to create an application that has a kind of 'Screen Saver Option', say, the user clicks a button or chooses a menu item and the SS starts automatically. I thought that this could be made by subclassing ScreenSaverView in ScreenSaver.framework and writing some code in animateOneFrame: method, but it did not work. Is there any way to do this, or maybe just some trick that does the same effect (fading the screen and showing some animation)?

Thanks for any help,
