Have you unselected "Selects inserted objects" in IB? (See <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/ ApplicationKit/ObjC_classic/Classes/NSArrayController.html#// apple_ref/doc/uid/20002042-BCIJEGID>.)
