There was a pretty interesting discussion about HOM concepts on cocoadev
quite a while ago (I don't recall just when, but it feels like 2 or 3 years
ago at least):

I was somewhat skeptical to begin with, but I have since become fairly
convinced that Marcel's implementation is a really cool thing, probably the
biggest thinking-outside-the-box idea I've seen implemented with the
forwarding mechanism.
