Keyboard Lock

Hello,

I got some problems with cats walking over my keyboard. While I managed to help myself on my workstation by using an USB hub to unplug the keyboard when necessary, that trick obviously won't help with my notebook. Could anybody point me in the direction on how to make the system ignore keyboard events? Is it possible to write an application that would globally catch all keys? Furthermore, would it be possible to turn off the hardware feature that a longer held power button shuts down the system immediately?

Thanks in advance,

Adrian
