Modifying Core Data fields Programatically

(My first ever post!)

I'm dabbling with Cocoa and Core Data as a virtual newbie, if anyone can help that would be great!

I'm trying to make a little app that monitors my work time by context, like a 'check on, check off' timer where I can choose the kind of work I'm doing. (Programming, Reading, Assignment 1, etc). I've got a really really simple core data Entity 'Activity' with two attributes 'name' and 'timeSpent'.

Thanks for a post I found in the archives I have used NSTimeInterval and NSDate to calculate the times, no problem, but how can I programmatically add the new time spent to the currently selected Activity in the interface? (I'm just working from a modified version of a core data auto-protoype). I know how to create a managedObjectContext and add a new Activity to the list and populate the fields programatically, and I expect the answer to my problem might be similar

I've read a bit through the Core Data Programming Guide from Apple and am aware of the fetch, but is this the easiest way to do it? I thought there should be a better way.

Thanks and wish me luck.

Mathieu Tozer
