Spotlight Questions

Hi All.

I have a couple of esoteric Spotlight questions, but I suppose any question with Spotlight is esoteric.

I am writing a new (Cocoa) version of a Carbon application. In my Cocoa application, I export 2 Uniform Type Identifiers, one for the old type of file and one for the new type. For the old type, the Kind as indexed by Spotlight is the UTTypeDescription key. For the new type, this key is totally ignored and insted the Kind is indexed by the CFBundleTypeName in the CFBundleDocumentTypes (i.e. The files types that the application can open). Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, there are a bunch of the old type of file that I'm sure I've opened in the last week, yet a search in Spotlight fails to find them. As a developer, is there something I have to do to make sure that they are marked as "touched"?

Thanks!

-Kenny
