First launch window

Hi, I'm looking for a way to present a configuration windows the first time a user launches my application like the one in mail. I already managed to show the window, my problem is that the main window of the applications is visible behind it. In mail, when you launch it for the first time, only the configuration window appears. How do I accomplish that? Thank you, and sorry if this is a stupid question! Bye.
