I understand Ondra, although I'm not sure I'm working "against" the framework. Still, that doesn't answer the question which method is called when you select a recent document from the list...
Cheers,
Alex

I understand the confusion, but the setup is as follows. The moment the app starts up or if all documents are closed, it presents a "chooser" (think the startup gallery in Keynote). This chooser runs modal to prevent certain menu options. However, some menu items I would like to be enabled, like Quit, Open, etc That way one can just apple-q to quit the program. Similarly I would like to have the recent items be enabled, but for that I need to know what action these menuitem call....

The "normal" solution would be (a) not run the "gallery" modal, (b) disable those "certain menu options" through responder chain validation if gallery's opened.

That said, there of course can be strong reasons for you not do this; just that since you are working "against" the framework, it's not suprising this or that tends to raise its ugly head time to time and bit your bottom :)
