What kind of network protocol used by "Shared Printer/Fax"

  • Subject: What kind of network protocol used by "Shared Printer/Fax"

I was under impression that it is just combination of Bonjour for discovery and CUPS (IPP) for actual printing, but some of my experiments led me to believe that "Shared Printer/Fax" do not actually rely on Bonjour (and I am not even sure if IPP is in use either).

Could some one please shed some light on this issue? I will like most, if some one can point me to some sort of Apple documentation which describe this matters.

Thanks,

Andrei Tchijov
