Hallo Patrick et al,

Why not use QuickTime? There is an example to be found inside the Documentation of Xcode that shows you how to get all the MP3 tags out of files using QT. It's a bit cryptic but it works well and comes with every Mac...

Wow, tough crowd. This framework works pretty well, although its not built for intel so you'll have to do that yourself.

The version on the site is slightly outdated. Please contact the developer directly for an updated, much more robust version.

I've recently been trying out some available open source options for reading / writing id3 tags (id3lib, TagLib, ID3Tag), and finally settled on this one. Avoid id3lib; it's no longer actively developed. Also, _all_ solutions had trouble reading/writing iTunes compatible tags. This has to do with the way iTunes chooses to display tags (f.i. choose from different available comment tags) and with the introduction of custom, undocumented id3 frames in recent versions of iTunes.
