While there is a dedicated mailing list for Accessibility, I thought
I'd post a message here to potentially reach folks that may not
subscribe to that list.
I'm in the process of making my app fully accessible. Since the app
uses a completely custom UI, this is giving me some challenges.
I suppose my custom controls/views can be broken down into two camps:
UI that has an Apple Aqua equivalent (e.g. Push button, checkbox);
unique UI (e.g. NumberLineView).
The first camp is 100% complete (full keyboard access plus
integration with VoiceOver). It was easy to implement the
appropriate APIs and have my custom checkboxes, etc. work as their
Aqua equivalents.
What I'm looking for is just to bounce ideas off of individuals that
also are implementing accessibility in custom views/controls. I have
already watched the WWDC 2005 presentation on Cocoa Accessiblity and
also have downloaded and played around with all sample code
(including the recent "Dicey" sample). These provide good
foundations, but I'm still looking for best practices and other
helpful tips.
While we can keep this thread here since we'll be discussing Cocoa
APIs, we could move the thread to the Accessibility mailing list. I
also don't have a problem if you'd like to discuss things privately.
Thanks,
