Thanks George. I delete the files one at a time -- restarting help viewer after each deletion. The culprit seems to be com.apple.helpviewer.plist. Once I deleted that everything started working the way it should again.

I just started up help for Interface Builder and noticed that when I click on the "Adding, Removing, and Selecting Objects" that the help opens on the left hand side instead of the main window. Further testing shows that all of the links I've tried also show this behavior. Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, this annoyed me for quite a while. I believe what fixed it was deleting one or all of these preference files.

com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
