change NSSplitView subviews frames

Im trying to emulate the mail.app source list status view where there is resize handle can be moved and it ssems to notify the NSSPlitView that it needs to move its subviews to the correct frames, then display itself. Is there any way to tell an NSSplitView that i changed the frame of one of its subviews and i want it to adjust accordingly?
