I just found this same problem!
If I try to open an Adobe PDF with NSWorkspace openFile, Adobe reader
will crash after about a second or three. Adobe Reader is a PPC app,
I am running a native intel build on 10.4.7, and calling
[[NSWorkspace sharedWorkspace] openFile:pathToFile];

Hello,
I have written a small launcher type utility that uses the
NSWorkspace apis to launch the executable. I have noticed that on
intel hardware, non-universal binaries fail to launch (actually
they do launch, but they tend to die with something similar to the
attached exception).
Is there a way of forcing the launch to happen with rosetta?
I have tried setting the Info.plist to have the key:
<key>LSPrefersPPC</key>
<true/>
but that doesn't seem to have any effect.
