Thats a nifty little feature I didn't know about. It hasn't shed any
light on the problem though - the commands displayed are identical to
those using the ftp command line tool with the debug mode set to on.

I think Transmit has a mode which lets you watch the actual
commands that it is sending to the FTP server. Maybe that could
give you a clue.

I have problems transferring files using the ftp command in a
NSTask. The problem is reproducible using the identical commands
in Terminal.app
Basically, where there are utf-8 non-ASCII characters in the file
name, the characters appear as multi-byte character equivalents
when the file is uploaded using the ftp shell command to my web
hosting Linux server. The same garbled file name also occurs
when using curl to do the ftp transfer. However, the file
transfers perfectly when I use Panic's Transmit Application, with
the proper utf-8 encoded name appearing on the Linux server.
Any tips on how to get these files to upload correctly is
appreciated.
