Sometimes I see a control that looks like a square-edged button with a divider down the middle, and '+' and '-' captions. Is this a single control that I can get to in IB, or is it just two ordinary NSButtons visually shoved up against one another?

Now type + and - inside them or if you are looking for a more Applesque look use an image (you can even steal that from the application bundle).

If you do need the actual plus and minus images (instead of just using text labels), check out http://geocities.com/iamtheboredzo/ plusminus/. This way you won't have to look around app bundles and, more importantly, avoid any copyright trouble as they're released into the public domain.
