First, you are completely right about having an extra controller - I have no idea why I had that in there.

Removing it did not solve the problem. I have created a very simple project to highlight the issue. When the app opens, it creates some sample data. To make the program crash, all you need to do is to alternately select the rows in the table on the top, producing first an error then a crash.

The project (called TreeViewTest) can be downloaded from my .Mac public folder (username "demitri").
