Newbie question regarding CFNetwork

I have a cocoa app where i need to open a stream for a live video comming in over the internet, would CFStream/CFSocket work the best for this sort of thing. If so, do I need to setup a socket for each port? I'm a little lost on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
