Resizing drag image during drag?

Hi,
I have a situation in which I would like the drag image's size to be
updated depending on what view the cursor is currently over. The
reasoning is the drag image will be differently sized depending on
which view it is dropped into, so I would like the drag image to live
resize to more accurately portray the appearance it will have when
dropped into the view.
As far as I can tell, the drag image is inmutable. One piece of
advice I got was to pass nil as the drag image and implement my own
floating window that follows the cursor. Are there any more official
ways of doing something like this?
Thanks,
Colin
