capturing a verbal response (voice recognition)

I'd like to be able to capture a user's verbal response to an onscreen display. Is this possible. I'm new to Xcode and Cocoa and rusty in ANSI_C, but Ihave made some progress using Cocoa and Objective C. That is to say, don't assume that I know too much if you attempt to help me out!

I want to capture the response, store it and compare it to the correct response later on.
