Delegates -- WHAT is delegated?

  • Subject: Delegates -- WHAT is delegated?

I think I understand how delegates work. What I don't understand is
WHAT is delegatable? I've scanned three books and a lot of web stuff and
can't find the answer.

If a class has a delegate, are all methods of the class delegatable? I
see something about protocols, but I don't see what would make a particular
protocol delegatable.

What about methods in the superClasses?

NSView is supposedly (Apple documentation) delegatable. However,
nowhere in the headers for NSView or NSResponder do I see a delegate like I
do in NSWindow. ???

I would think, of all classes, NSResponder would allow a delegate to
handle events, a la "Behaviors" in MacApp. Does it?
