Putting up sheet without requesting attention

Is there a way to put up a sheet without requesting the user's attention?

I tried putting a call to
[NSApp cancelUserAttentionRequest:0];
right after the -beginSheet:... call. This has two problems: I had to guess the int to pass in (0 seems to work, but maybe not always) and the app icon bounces once in the dock. I don't want it to bounce at all.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Derrick
