How can I get abbreviated file paths the way the Finder Column view
displays them. I thought I read somewhere that there's a simple way of
doing this but can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.

You can do this by using an NSAttributedString with an NSParagraphStyle with a lineBreakMode of LineBreakByTruncatingMiddle.

Best wishes,
Hamish
