Hi,

Can an application set a time-out value for FSResolveAlias /
mount_smbfs to use when trying to resolve an alias to a file on a
network volume which is currently unreachable?

It seems the existing timeout is around 150 seconds, so apps
(including iTunes ;-) get a spinning beach ball for that entire time,
which looks bad from a user perspective. I'd like to set the timeout
to something like 20 seconds.

I read the man page for mount_smbfs hoping there would be an
environment variable I could set for my process, but there doesn't
seem to be one. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,
Simon Liu
