It's not clear exactly what you're actually trying to achieve.
Could you state what are the entities, what are the object controllers, and how they are linked?

I guess what I'm looking for really is something like a core/data/ bindings best practices. When you want to say use more than 1 nib and propigate one or more selected objects across that boundary, what types of patterns or best practices are there.

In general it's not clear to what extent issues related to "nib boundaries" are any different for bindings than they are for non- bindings applications. The abstract issue is, can you form a key- path to an object in another nib. You face basically the same issue with or without bindings. The principal "complicating" factor with bindings is, is the property you're interested in KVO-compliant. Specifically related to Core Data, most of the relevant best practices are now summarised in the Performance article <http:// developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/CoreData/Articles/ cdPerformance.html>. Most other issues are covered in other specific articles. If there's something that is not addressed, again please file an enhancement request.
