Hi!
I basically want to open up HISearchWindowShow with a spotlight raw
query that my app has generated, but since that seems to be impossible
I'm wondering what my alternatives are.
Is there some way around having to do all the GUI stuff from the
ground up if I want to display the results of a spotlight raw query
with nice looking list, thumbnail and slideshow modes?
thanks!!
and btw, if any os x developer reads this: what I think would be a
lovely thing is support for custom "spotlight filter plugins". This
would enable developers to add even more intelligence to spotlight
searches and it seems like a logical thing with widgets and metadata
importers etc already around...
A simple example: someone could write a spotlight filter plugin that
uses a list of time zones and daylight saving times for cities to
enables queries such as "Last Modified Within 1 hour From 12:00 London
Time". That filter in combination with one of the already available
date filters, would let a American guy who always has his PB set to
NYC time to find the ehh, song, he wrote down while waiting for his
lunch when he was on vacation in London last June without having to
think too much. Of course, he would first have to install the plugin
and then open up a search window from finder and add the search
"filter" from the other.. (attributes) list just like he would add a
raw query, so it's a pretty stupid example unless he have this problem
often. but you get the drift...
